Community Guidelines
The short version
Mamentum is for single moms. Women who get it, talking to women who get it.
These guidelines exist for one reason: so this stays a place you can actually exhale. You should be able to say the real thing, on a hard day, without bracing for who's reading. That only works if we all hold the same line. So here's the line.
If you only read one thing: be honest, be kind, and protect each other's privacy like it's your own.
What we're building
A community, not an audience. You are not here to perform. You're here to be a person on the other side of a long day, next to other people having the same one. That means:
- Be real. The messy, unfiltered version is the whole point. You don't have to have it together.
- Assume they're tired, not attacking. Read the most generous version first.
- Protect the circle. What's shared here stays here. We block screenshots inside the app, and we mean it. Don't try to get around it, and don't repost another member's private details anywhere else.
- Look out for the new mama. You were new here once, too.
What isn't allowed here
We remove content and, when needed, remove people for the following. These map to the reasons you'll see when you report something, so what you flag and what we act on are the same list.
- Harassment or bullying. Targeting someone, piling on, mean-spirited digs. Disagreeing is fine. Going after a person is not.
- Hate or discrimination. Content that attacks or demeans someone for their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other part of who they are. No exceptions, not even as a joke.
- Spam, scams, and MLMs. No pitching, no recruiting, no "hey girl" downlines, no fake links or fundraisers. This is not a place to sell to each other.
- Violence or threats. Threatening harm, wishing harm, or glorifying it. We take this straight to removal, and to law enforcement when there's a credible threat to someone's safety.
- Dangerous misinformation. False health or safety claims that could actually hurt a mom or a kid. Share what worked for you. Don't present it as medical fact, and don't push anything unsafe.
- Explicit or inappropriate content. No sexual content, nudity, or graphic material. This is a community space, and kids' details live here too.
- Privacy violations. Never post someone else's private information. No full names, addresses, workplaces, schools, phone numbers, or photos of a person who did not agree to be shared. This includes outing where another member lives or what their custody schedule is.
- Impersonation. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, another member, an ex, an organization, or Mamentum itself.
- Illegal content or activity. Anything against the law, including content that exploits or endangers a child.
When you're not sure whether something crosses a line, err toward protecting the other person.
Extra care, because of who we are
A lot of us came here from something hard. Some of our members are survivors leaving unsafe situations. That shapes how this community has to work.
- Never share another member's identity, location, or schedule outside Mamentum. For some women, that information being in the wrong hands is genuinely dangerous.
- Don't try to out someone. Screenshots are blocked inside the app on purpose. Don't try to get around it. If a post breaks a rule, report it. That's what reporting is for.
- The safety tools are yours. You can block anyone instantly, hide your account from search, and use Quick Exit to disguise the app in a hurry. Crisis resources live in Settings under Safety, two taps away.
If you ever feel unsafe because of someone here, block and report them. Reports are anonymous. The other person is never told who flagged them.
One honest note about crisis support
Mamentum is a community, not a crisis service, and none of us here are your therapist, doctor, lawyer, or caseworker. If you or your child are in danger, call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988. For domestic violence support, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. You'll also find these in the app under Settings, Safety Resources.
(The full legal version of this lives in the Terms of Service, Section 11.)
What happens when a rule is crossed
We have a small, real moderation team, not a bot farm. We review every report, and we aim to look within 24 hours. Depending on what happened, this is what can follow:
- A warning. For a first or minor slip, we'll let you know what crossed the line. The content may stay up or come down.
- Content removed. If a post breaks a rule, we take it down. You'll be told it was removed for violating the guidelines.
- A temporary suspension. For something serious or repeated, your account can be paused for 1, 7, or 30 days. You'll see the date your access comes back.
- A permanent ban. For threats, hate, harassment, illegal content, or a pattern that won't stop, the account is removed for good, and we may block signing up again with the same email.
Some things don't get a warning. Threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, and anything illegal are removed on sight and can end an account immediately.
If you think we got a call wrong, you can reach us below. We'd rather hear from you than have you feel unheard.
Reporting and blocking, in plain terms
- Report: tap the three-dot menu on any post, profile, message, event, or comment, and choose Report. Pick the reason. Add context if you want. It's anonymous.
- Block: from the same menu, or right after you report. A blocked person can't see you or reach you, and they aren't told.
- Safety Resources: Settings, Safety, for hotlines and the safety tools above.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as the community grows. If we make a meaningful change, we'll let you know before it takes effect and update the date below. Continuing to use Mamentum after that means the updated guidelines apply.
You are not here alone. That's the entire point of the place.
